อาเซียนพาราเกมส์คัดเลือกนักกีฬาอย่างโปร่งใสและยุติธรรม นายเฉลิมชัย บุญรักษ์ ร้องผู้ว่าการการกีฬาแห่งประเทศไทย (กกท.) ฝ่ายกีฬาเป็นเลิศ ได้เป็นประธานการประชุมคณะกรรมการเตรียมและส่งนักกีฬาเข้าร่วมการแข่งขันกีฬาอาเซียนพาราเกมส์ ครั้งที่ ๔ เมื่อวันที่ ๒๒ พ.ค.ที่ห้องประชุมอาคารที่พัก ๓๐๐ เตียงภายใน กกท.พร้อมด้วย พ.อ.โอสถ ภาวิไล นายกสมาคมกีฬาคนพิการแห่งประเทศไทย และคณะกรรมการที่เกี่ยวข้อง ที่ประชุมได้พูดถึง งบประมาณที่ได้รับในการเตรียมนักกีฬาและส่งเข้าชิงชัย เป็นจำนวนเงิน ๑๓,๐๗๐,๗๖๐ บาท โดยเริ่มให้นักกีฬาคนพิการของไทยเข้าเก็บตัวฝึกซ้อมตั้งแต่วันที่ ๑ ก.ย. ๕๐-๑๖ ม.ค. ๕๑ ใน ๑๔ ชนิดกีฬาที่จะทำการแข่งขัน คือ ยิงธนู, กรีฑา, แบดมินตัน, บอคเซีย, ฟันดาบ, โกล บอล, ยูโด, ยกน้ำหนัก, ยิงปืน, ว่ายน้ำ, เทเบิลเทนนิส, วีลแชร์บาสเกตบอล, วีลแชร์เทนนิส และ หมากรุก พ.อ.โอสถ ได้เปิดเผยว่า ตอนนี้ได้เปิดโอกาสให้คนพิการทั่วไป ที่มีความสามารถด้านกีฬาเข้ามาสมัครคัดเลือก เพื่อเป็นตัวแทนทีมชาติไทย และจะทำการคัดเลือกตัวระหว่าง วันที่ ๒๕-๒๙ มิ.ย.นี้ อย่างไรก็ตามได้มีการวางเกณฑ์เบื้องต้นเอาไว้ว่า นักกีฬาคนพิการที่เคยประสบความสำเร็จระดับนานาชาติ ทางคณะกรรมการคัดเลือกตัวจะเชิญเข้ามาทดสอบความสามารถ ประกอบไปด้วย ๑. นักกีฬาคว้าอันดับ ๑-๘ กีฬาพาราลิมปิก, ๒. นักกีฬาที่คว้าอันดับ ๑-๔ กีฬาเฟสปิกเกมส์ ๓. นักกีฬาที่คว้าอันดับ ๑-๓ อาเซียนพาราเกมส์, ๔. นักกีฬาที่คว้าแชมป์กีฬาคนพิการประเทศ http://www.apdi2002.com/ สมาคมคนพิการทางการเคลื่อนไหวสากล พันตรีศิริชัย ทรัพย์ศิริ
